The CAPOW Story

Three people in winter gear, one carrying a child in a backpack, standing on snowy terrain with snow-covered trees in the background.

How it started

It all started way back in 1986 when Marty’s parents took a leap and bought the Blanket Glacier Chalet. Marty spent a lot of time at the lodge growing up, helping his folks run their backcountry telemarking camps. By 2012, he decided to start his own thing, so he founded CAPOW Guiding, which offers private guiding, AST courses, and backcountry specific camps. He also took over the Blanket Glacier Chalet, and started to run guided, catered trips out of the lodge all winter long. Then in 2019, Marty met his wife, Kate, and in 2023, they welcomed their little sidekick, Huck, to the adventure!

Enter CAPOW House

CAPOW then realized we needed a place where the fun didn’t have to end at the mountain. We wanted a spot where our crew could come together, grab a cold one, swap stories, and get ready to do it all over again the next day. So we started CAPOW House – the ultimate hangout after a day of skiing, mountain biking, hiking, running, or just touristing. It’s the place to gather, laugh, and fuel up for your next adventure, whether you're crashing with us for a weekend or just swinging by for a quick pit stop.

What we are about

Here at CAPOW, we’re all about having fun – whether you’re learning how to ski safely in the backcountry, charging down a fresh line with a guide, or just sharing a beer at the end of the day with friends, reliving a pow day. It’s about more than just the sport; it’s about the joy, the laughter, and the pure stoke of being out in nature with great people. It’s our shared CAPOW community, and now you are part of it!
